More Than “Buzz Words”

Motivation

One thing that drives me nuts is the overuse of “buzz words” when it comes to focus months. Many organizations have months centering on “X” or “Y” where they go all in, but then the next month rolls around and it’s as if they solved the problem…until next year. RESOLUTE DEFENDER takes a different approach to this by focusing on core ideas (Resilience, Camaraderie, and Communication) and then getting after them every month.

Over the years, I've seen how challenging events draw people together and create bonds that often go well beyond that day, week, etc. As a member of the military (USAF Missileer & Security Forces), I’ve also had the opportunity to “embrace the suck” on multiple occasions. During these times, I’ve noted how a crew partner and/or team can make all the difference. Yes, you can do things alone, but there is a tipping point. Even the ultra-marathoner depends on others. From aid station volunteers to pacers, there is often a team helping out both leading up to and during these “solo” endeavors.

RESOLUTE DEFENDER and its associated ruck challenge are here to foster this support network through events that vary in difficulty, but always keep Resilience, Camaraderie, and Communication at the forefront.

Mission

The RD mission is to build RESILIENCE, foster CAMARADERIE, and open lines of COMMUNICATION through partner/team centered events.

The “Challenge”

As mentioned above, RESOLUTE DEFENDER’s core event is the year long ruck challenge. Each year starting on October 1st, teams can set out to complete each month’s posted challenge. Teams will then submit their info as directed (accompanying pictures are highly encouraged). At the end of that 12 month period, those teams that successfully complete all 12 monthly events will be authorized to purchase a certificate and completion tab. The challenge is FREE for all who want to get in on it, it’s just the “swag” that will cost you a couple bucks. Please help keep costs down by snagging some merchandise from the store.
